Teaching at Splash is fun! You can share your passion for your subject with midlle school and high school students. You can teach on your own, or with friends. Your class can be on literally anything (so long as it's age-appropriate)! We've had classes
on Science, World War II, Writing a Screenplay, Escape the Room, Origami, How to Change a Car Tyre, Digital Music - pretty much anything!
Even if you don't feel comfortable teaching - although it's a lot of fun - we also need volunteers to help with setup and on the day! So please be sure to sign up for an account, and also please join the Marist Splash Volunteers group on Facebook.
Who can teach?
Any Marist student! Once you have registered on this site you can propose a class. We believe Splash should make learning _fun_ and _interesting_. You can be a freshman who has a penchant for poetry or a graduate student with a flair for flower
arranging! If you're passionate about a subject, and are willing to teach a class on it, then we’d love to have you join us! You can teach on your own or with a teammate.
**I don't know what to teach**
You can teach anything! We can make suggestions! Just ask us. Just be mindful of time, material and resource constraints as you plan your class. Don't be afraid to ask us questions!
Take a look at our some
ideas here.
I've never taught before
No problem! We can provide you with tips on teaching. And you can
teach with a friend if that would be less daunting for you!
Can I really teach anything?
Yes! You can propose a class on anything that you are interested in. All you need to do is to remember that you'll be teaching
middle and high school kids, so you'll need to tailor your class to their level. Of course, the administrators will need to approve your class before it goes into the catalog.
How long is a class?
Most classes are one hour,
although if you're teaching a class that needs more time (e.g., coding an iPhone app) then you can request two hours.
Can I teach more than one class?
Absolutely. You can teach the same class more than once, or you can
teach two different classes. Just remember that teaching can be tiring!
My schedule is busy that day - can I specify a time for my class?
Yes, we will try to accommodate your request. But since scheduling is complicated, please only do this if it's _really_ necessary.
Is there a deadline?
Yes, we want to get all teachers registered by April 8th.
